WW INDEPENDENT ARTIST

Last year I ran a tempera workshop.  We used minerals to paint with and prepared our boards and papers for painting and used tempera.  It takes a bit longer, but we are in this way independent from art shops.

Prior to the workshop I was asked "could I do a vegan variety of tempera".  The answer is “no” until we can get vegan eggs.   You can use honey, and I am told egg white.  I am sure they will work, but I can't know they will last lifetimes as egg yolk tempera does.

Tempera is an ancient  technique, also used by Andrew Wyeth in his famous painting "Christina’s World”.  I used it in the miniature painting below.. a copy of Vincent Van Gogh's painting of his chair
"The Yellow Chair".
