ACORNS ARE HERE

I went for a walk yesterday and although there were not many acorns on our patch, there were some - and I have every one.  What can we do with them?  We can make flour, we can make a kibble and we can make a solution to calm down varicose veins.  All with acorns.

In the front are the beautiful green acorns, then in the middle are the husks i removed, and at the back are the kernels in water, already turning brown from the huge amount of tannin in them.

The first step is to soak the acorns, changing the water often, until the water has lost that mouth puckering dryness,  then we can make it into flour or kibble.  I don't have the patience for flour but I do have a fondness for the kibble which tastes terrific on muesli or porridge.

As I make these products I will show you step by step.

First collect the acorns, husk them and then soak them.  It will take about two weeks of frequently changing the water before you can start step 2.

See you then,  Jahne
